This is going to be a shorter post than normal, I'm tired and the bed, pillow and blankets are all calling my name (pictures will be posted later).
Labor Day weekend was spent with the family. My mom, dad, sister, niece, nephew and my sister's boyfriend and his daughter all went down to Fossil Rim in Glen Rose, Texas. They have a drive through wildlife park there that is amazing. The kids had a blast and so did the adults. Mike, my husband, had to work, there were some students that needed to make up time, and it was his turn for the Saturday shift, so he did miss out on all the fun. Most of the animals were pretty much tame and came right up to your window to eat. It was amazing to watch the kids get so excited to be able to feed and pet a deer, antalope, mountian goat, zebra, etc....
Today, Sassy the Rat had to go get a mammary tumor removed. We (Madeline, Marshall & I) dropped her off at the vets this morning and then went to the Dallas World Aquarium. Now, I will say, after being to the aquarium in Boston, the Dallas Aquarium was kinda a let down. I was quite confused why there was a Jaguar, Ant Eater and a few other mammals there that just didn't fit in with the whole "aquarium" thing. The kids had fun, Madeline was having some issues with listening and staying with me, but overall, I believe she really enjoyed it. Her favorite part was getting to watch the sharks eat, petting a baby tucan and also getting to feed another baby bird blueberries (with permission from the staff). Marshall had fun as well, but at only 16 months old, he was pretty tired by 1/2 way through and fell asleep on my back in the Mei Tai. Sassy came through the surgery wonderfully, now I'm on stitch removal watch to make sure she doesn't pull her stitches out. In 5 days she can go back in with her the rest of her colony (Ariel, Julie and Butterfly) and things can get back into normal for their routines.
